FATHERS, FAMILIES & CHILD WELL-BEING ACROSS CULTURES

Presented September 17, 2006 at the South Regional/BCC Library, 7300 Pines Plvd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

"Fathers, Families and Child Well-being Across Cultures," gives the public an opportunity to engage in a cross-cultural dialogue designed to enhance family living among Broward communities by examining the development of fatherhood in other cultures. Speakers are: Dr. Hank Martel, Dean, Academic Affairs, the moderator, Prof. Howard Housen, Behavioral Science, Prof. Steve Godby, History/Political Science, all BCC faculty, and, Mr. Babacar M'Bow, Broward County Library Division of Outreach Services.
Our podcast is provided through Broward Community College and Prof. Robert Buford.

TERRORISM ROUNDTABLE

Presented May 23, 2006 at the South Regional/BCC Library, 7300 Pines Plvd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

The topics to be discussed are the history of political violence in the Middle East and development of current terrorist organizations; the impact of terrorism in the United States and the Patriot Act; and terrorist trials and their implications.
The panelists for the event are Amed Demirhan, Tim Dixon and Anthony Natale.
Dr. Hank Martel, Broward Community College South Campus Dean, Academic Affairs, is the program moderator.

Amed Demirhan was born in northern Kurdistan, eastern Turkey . In November 1994, Demirhan moved to the United States to study. In the last four years Demirhan has been working as a reference librarian and literacy coordinator in the Broward County Library. Tim Dixon is with the Division of Humanities, Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences for Nova Southeastern University. Anthony Natale is a Supervising Assistant Federal Public Defender in Miami and serves as the training coordinator for the Federal Defenders Office.
